A new elementary school opening next August in Cinco Ranch will be the 22nd Katy ISD school serving the community. This new school will be located in two of the newest residential neighborhoods in Cinco Ranch, which are part of Westridge Creek Village and Ridgefield Heights.
If you’d like a brand-new home close to a brand-new elementary school, use our convenient Homefinder tool to check out new homes priced from the $400,000s by Perry Homes and Village Builders, and from the $430,000s by Highland Homes and Village. A limited number of homesites with views of a new park or lake are also available.
Also next August, Katy ISD plans to open a new junior high school right outside of Cinco Ranch – make that school No. 23 for the community.
The Katy ISD schools serving Cinco Ranch fared exceptionally well in the 2015 school rankings from Children at Risk, a Houston-based nonprofit group, with all receiving A or A+ ratings.
A new $75 million shopping center called Stableside at Falcon Landing is planned to open in 2016 along Gaston Road, between Greenbusch and Falcon Landing Boulevard. The first phase will be anchored by a Kroger Signature store, with other tenants including restaurants, salons, pet store and a bank. The second phase will include a 39,000-square-foot theater with greenspace and patio seating.
Another new major retail center, The Shoppes at Parkwest, is planned to open next fall at the northeast corner of the Katy Freeway and Grand Parkway. The first phase will include 450,000 square feet of retail space for tenants including Bed Bath & Beyond, Buy Buy Baby, DSW, Kirkland’s and others.
Another new retail center recently opened at Cinco Ranch Boulevard and Spring Green, offering essential services such as a tutoring center and a realty office.
LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch continues to welcome new tenants, with Sephora and Bernie’s Burger Bus among the new stores and restaurants opening this fall.
New parks and recreation
Cinco Ranch residents already enjoy two popular parks that are part of the Willow Fork Drainage District. The newest, Exploration Park, recently opened on Cinco Park Road, near Creech Elementary School. This $1.7 million nature-inspired park has cool features such as a xylophone bridge, a roller slide, a sensory garden, and a lawn where children can play among swaying sculptural glass rods.
Exploration Park joins Central Green in LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, the District’s popular venue for special events such as outdoor movies, live music, yoga classes and other activities.
The District’s third – and largest park – in Cinco Ranch will be Willowfork, now under development on a 32-acre site adjacent to Cinco Ranch High School. Planned to open in early 2016, this park will include a 4.5-acre lake for kayaking and paddle boarding, an 18-hole disc golf course, open lawn areas for special events, and much more.
Two major recreational facilities are also in the works near Cinco Ranch. The $45 million Typhoon Texas water park is planned to open in May 2016, on a 25-acre site next to Katy Mills Mall. Also near Katy Mills, Momentum Indoor Climbing plans to open a 36,000-square-foot world-class rock climbing facility next summer.
